The Baltimore City Employees’ Retirement Systems (ERS) will conduct four (4) Retirement Education Seminars (RES) targeted to employees with less than twenty (20) years of ERS membership service.
The ERS staff will conduct the RES on Tuesdays as listed below. Each session will start at 9:00 a.m. and end approximately 1:00 p.m. Sessions will be held at 7 E. Redwood Street (11th floor conference room). An additional half-hour will be required for new employees for their initial enrollment into the ERS.
The seminars are designed to provide City employees with timely and accurate information about retirement benefits for both “Plan C” and “Plan D” of the Hybrid Plan. Presentations will include, but not limited to: retirement eligibility requirements, disability and death benefits, military time, transfer time, beneficiary designation, retirement savings options, and City health insurance options.

The Office of the Labor Commissioner is authorizing 4 ½ hrs. (four hours and 30 minutes) of permission leave for employees to attend a seminar. Any employee who wishes to attend a seminar must submit a request to the immediate supervisor at least two weeks in advance. The request may be denied for operational reasons. National Retirement Security Week – October 2020. The Retirement Savings Plan will be sending out information in September, or early October, regarding events during NRSW.
