The Baltimore City Employees’ Retirement Systems (ERS) will conduct monthly New Employee Election Seminar (NEES) targeted to new employees to help them make an informed choice prior to the 150 day election period expiration for mandatory plan selection. The ERS staff will conduct the NEES on the third Tuesday, during eleven months of 2020. Each half-day session will start at 9:00 a.m. and end approximately 12:00 p.m. There will be no seminar during January.
The seminars are designed to provide information on all available retirement plan options for City employees, with timely and accurate information about their retirement benefits including, but not limited to: retirement eligibility requirements, retirement application process, disability and death benefits, military time, transfer time, beneficiary designation, etc.
The Schedule for NEES is as follows:

The Office of the Labor Commissioner is authorizing 3 ½ hours (3 hours and 30 minutes) day of permission leave for employees to attend one seminar. Any employee who wishes to attend a seminar must submit a request to the immediate supervisor at least two weeks in advance. The request may be denied for operational reasons. National Retirement Security Week – October 2020. The Retirement Savings Plan will be sending out information in September, or early October, regarding events during NRSW.
